The Anti Bridezilla is a bridal beauty & luxury destination wedding inspiration site that specializes in showcasing the latest in beauty innovation and non-traditional locales beyond the standard all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean or Mexico. It is one of two lifestyle channels under BASM, with its sister site being Tales of a Mommy 2 Be. Both properties focus on pivotal moments in a woman’s life. The Anti Bridezilla centers on bridal beauty & luxury destination wedding inspiration for brides-to-be, while Tales of a Mommy 2 Be explores the exciting stages of pregnancy and motherhood from the personal perspective of first time motherhood for a thirty-something mother to be.

The Anti Bridezilla is founded by bridal & beauty expert, columnist and avid traveler, Dorian Smith-Garcia. The concept for the site came to Dorian when she decided to plan her own destination wedding in Tokyo, Japan. She quickly noticed that there was a lack of information for planning a wedding in a “non-traditional” locale. Armed with her own experiences, planning background and a growing list of venues across the United States and around the world, Dorian launched The Anti Bridezilla in the Fall of 2012. She realized that these venues did in fact offer wedding packages and were more than capable of managing language barriers and the long distance planning needs of a wedding couple. The Anti Bridezilla focuses on multicultural beauty as well as non-traditional wedding locales through its core verticals TAB Beauty and TAB Travel.

As a bridal expert, Dorian has been quoted in various leading print and online publications within the bridal and lifestyle verticals and has sat on panels at leading bridal industry events like WedTech Summit. She has also been invited to participate in media trips and also coordinates seasonal coverage of major events such as New York Fashion Week, Men’s Fashion Week, Australian Bridal Fashion Week and New York Bridal Fashion Week. The Anti Bridezilla is also syndicated on BridalPulse.

Does The Anti Bridezilla Review Products or Brands?

Glad you asked. Yes I do…however read on for some helpful guidelines to determine if your brand is a fit for The Anti Bridezilla.

1. The Anti Bridezilla does organize periodic media trips throughout the year to provide in-depth coverage of venues and locations for destination weddings and honeymoons. This is in addition to periodic one-off article venue features. Past media trips have included India, Seoul, Tokyo, Sydney, Auckland, New Zealand, New Orleans and San Francisco/Napa Valley to name a few. If you represent a property (accommodations, airlines, trains, etc) or tourist attraction and would like more details for an integrated in-depth travel feature, contact me via info(at)theantibridezilla(dot).com

2. I give honest reviews. Even if I’m a brand ambassador for you, if I don’t love your product, I’m going to let my readers know. And to piggy back on that specifically:

  • I only write reviews if I’ve tested the product. If you can’t provide a sample, it’s highly unlikely that I will feature you on the site.
  • I have sensitive skin so your product needs to be safe for sensitive skin!
  • I don’t review fragrances/perfumes.
  • Natural based and regular strength skincare products are preferred. Because I have sensitive skin, I will almost always shy away from products billed as “fast acting”, “extra strength”, or that contain retinol or similar peeling/abrasive additives.
  • If your product is heavily infused with fake fragrance it’s best not to request I review your product. However, if you opt to send it anyway be prepared that if I find the scent overwhelming or migraine inducing (because I do have scent triggered migraines)…that’s going in the review! On the flip side, if your product is scented with actual essential oils (especially rose or light cucumber)…feel free to send it my way! ~_^
  • Specifically for those pitching color cosmetics meant to match skin tones (i.e. concealers, foundation, etc): You should have a wide range of colors from fair to deep. I don’t need you to send me your entire color range, but my readers are multicultural and range from Tilda Swinton fair to Alek Wek deep. If your deepest shade is around my tone and you specifically ask me to review foundations/concealers, I’m going to mention that your shade range is limited. It’s the 21st century – it’s not okay to ignore deeper skin tones anymore!

3. If as a brand you require very specific language or that certain social media verticals be targeted with preset hashtags, what you’re actually requesting from me is integrated advertising (aka a sponsored post) which goes beyond a “product for post” concept where I have more creative control. In that case…send an email to info(at)theantibridezilla(dot)com so we can discuss rates. ^_^
